well had a go in the new mondeo today,

must admit very nice, it was the ghia version and even that was very sporty looking,

got 2 nice styling indentations in the bonnet reminiscent of the ones on the jag xkr, not too keen on rear lights but all in all very impressed, even the interior feels good,

this was in silver, but I bet it will look great in black

Have to say I do like the new Mundano and they have upped their game but are the interior materials better than before?

I think thats what let them down last time, just not as special as the A4 or 3 series to be sitting in but I suppose I could check it out myself.

Saying that though, so many good deals on the old shape car now so there is.

the strange thing was in my oppinion the interior looked a little bit cheap, just a little in my oppinion! however it didnt feel cheap! its usually the other way around, i just think theres too much silver around the centre console part, same as on the new galaxy and s max's, suppose i am used to audi/vw black

YOu can get pricing online, you just have to search. Or drop me your email address via PM and I can forward you a pricelist. As fofr availability, there being built now and dealers are taking orders, discounts to fleet are only just being announced. Deliveries are expected to be June/July. The other option is check out drivethedeals site, you can spec and obtain prices there.

Am I right in thinking the ST models won't be represented in the new Mondeo range?

We were told some time ago that there would not be an ST version of the new Mondeo. This was put down to development cost vs volume sold.
Last year there were more Aston Martins registered in Uk than ST220's, and over 85% were to Ford employees or management.

to be honest the ford brand managers know the st badge is a good seller, id be very surprised if they didnt release one.
especially an st tdci to attract the reps, dont matter who buys em so long as some one does

The ST version is usually a little way behind the other variants. The 2.5T is a better engine than the st220's V6 already though, and is tunable up to around 300bhp.

I would expect a new ST to feature a volvo T6 engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_SI6_engine)

As far as performance diesels go other than the 2.2 which is already avaliable, I can only imagine either a volvo d5(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_D5_engine) or possibly jaguar v6d (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_AJD-V6_engine) being used as a range topping diesel, but more likely just a retuned 2.2 tdci outputting a bit more power.

Someone asked the same question on last week's Autoexpress on their Q&A section, and Ford spokesperson said that its only UK where ST sells in volumes, hence, the costs of developing a ST diesel version would be too high to justify.

Not sure those discounts would be honored, ford have reduced the standard discount (we have had our terms reduced by 7.5%) so I doubt very much they could wipe 4k off. Also they ain't available to register yet, some dealers have them but it doesn't officially go onsale until the end of June. I've been quoted late June -Mid July for the one I have on order.

Senn this on Fifth Gear a couple of weeks back, the test model obviously the flagship with all the toys was very impressive although if you told someone you had a new Mondeo they would likely picture a poverty spec 1.8!

:oops:Ihave a 57 plate Mondeo with soooo many electrical problems you wouldn't believe. OK so it was registered in Jan 2008 and has 62000+ on the clock (isn't t supposed to be a Rep's Car?) but.......
The windows open fully when they like with me being in bed and nowhere near the keys, reslting in several wet interiors.
The radio requests the code to be input as and when it sees fit and decides whether or not you can listen for a minute, an hour or in some cases, a month! This car has been in the garage countless number of times and nether they nor Ford can come up with a fix. They don't seem to be all that bothered either. Check out the after sales before you buy.

I don't know where Ford are getting their components manufactured these days but they are starting to be as bad as French cars! We see no end of problems mainly with the brake calipers and injection rails on the TDCI models but all sorts of things go wrong with them. I'd be very wary about buying one personally.

The thing is, people tend to report problems than reliability. To balance out the stories of very real problems, I would liek to say I have had a 2007 ford mondeo since february with ZERO glitches, and no problems, electrical or mechanical.

It's the top of the range titanium x with computer controlled, mulitple suspension settings, sat nav, etc, etc, etc, so there is a lot to go wrong!

    2.5T engine.

Will get it chipped after my warranty runs out, i.e. so I can be sure Ford garage won't wipe out the chipped map.

dunno about the brake calipers, but the common rail diesel issues are not exclusive to fords... it's a pretty common issue on many common rail engines. I'm sure the more recent ones are better, mainly affecting the older ones, when the technology was still new.

Again, as an example, I've got a 53 reg tdci, nothing actually broken in 7 months and 11000 miles so far. There is an injector making a noise when cold, but it was like it when I got it, and again, is symptomatic of what was common at the time. It's now on 66000, and according to the service history, apart from a couple of reprogrammings, nothing serious has ever failed on it.
