I have the above tv being delivered next week and want a suround sound system to go with it.
I had my mind set on the Panasonic SC-PT450EB dvd surround system but after reading comments on hear I believe that this system will not be compatible with a SKY+ box, as I often have Sky tv through my surround system.
Can anyone recommend a suround sound for a similar price (£150)

The SC-PT350W has an optical input for Sky+. It has wireless rear speakers which was my main reason for getting it at the time. It works very well with the PX70 through the Viera link. When you turn the television on, it automatically turns on the home cinema and mutes TV speakers. (Can be disabled if you don't want that.) Gives very good Dolby 5.1 from Sky+ films as well as from DVDs. It's dearer than your stated price but I don't know what cheapest available is. Mine came with a discount as part of a special offer with the TV.

As far as the Home Cinema system goes - output from there to TV using HDMI. Input from SKY+ to it using optical and phonos from TV for other sound.
All other devices got to TV via scarts and/or the other HDMI input and sound then goes from TV to 350 via the phonos.
You set the TV to output sound via "Home Cinema".
You have to switch the home cinema sound between Digital In for SKY for 5.1and Aux for other TV sound as the sound from the TV phonos isn't genuine surround although the ProLogic decoder does quite well.
I think there's a big advantage in keeping to the same make for Home Cinema and TV. I've got Panasonic DVD recorder and VCR as well and switching seems to work very well. It would be nice to have more than 1 optical input but as you found some devices don't have any. But home recorded DVDs don't record the Dolby 5.1 sound anyway.

Yes, imo the sony has a nicer sound, the viera links not important, after all its only a couple of extra remote clicks without the link
