I’m considering getting a home cinema system for my parents for Xmas, and I’m trying to decide whether to go for separates or an all in one package. The room is about 4m x4m, and they're probably not going to want to listen at very high volumes.

I’m generally a separates guy (my own system is a Sony STRDB930, Sony 725 DVD, Mission speakers etc), but I’m working on a tight budget.

I can get the Sony DAV-S550 for £240 (found a very good deal), or separates such as the Pioneer DV360, Pioneer VSXC100 receiver , and Yamaha NSP100 speakers for £260.

    Any thoughts?
