What are the differences between HDMI vs DisplayPort vs DVI vs VGA? Maybe optic fiber will come into place soon as well.

HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI all carry a Digital signal.

VGA and some DVI cables carry an Analogue signal.

HDMI is the dominant connector/cable in the Consumer market.

DisplayPort, DVI and VGA all live alongside HDMI in the Commercial market.

Fibre and HybridFibre versions of HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI and VGA all exist to allow you to carry signals over long distances - 'long' varies with each cable type and which signal format you are trying to carry.
