OK guys, there have been many debates about ALIS panels and from what I have read, no one really knows how they work. I'm looking at getting a replacement plasma and not sure I should go for another ALIS panel (42PD7200). I have been researching and have found that even Samsung and Sony panels use ALIS technology. Does anyone really know why manufacturers are taking this route (except cost). All in-store advertising mention hat ALIS improves PQ. If so how does it manage to do this? Also, there has been big debates on whether ALIS panels are actually progressive or not? I would really like to purchase a progressive scanning panel as it should offer better PQ. Finally, if I was to purchase a standard plasma at 1024*768 and the manual says that it can support 720p, does this mean that the panel will display the whole picture (all pixels in on go) even tho the spec doesn't mention the screen as progressive?
