Just for reference the £15 code is actually only for orders over £80, so either you will also need to add something else or you can use the code UZ6289 and get £10 off.

I have ordered my copy also but would be interested to see what hmv say about the preorder price differences

So the final price should be £59.99 plus £1odd for postage. I have e-mailed them about this discrepancy. I think the £74.99 price displayed on the site is an error but I think they are required to honour the displayed price regardless.

RedIndian - Thanks for bringing this to my attention, HMV is a site I never ever check. Whoever started that thread about your bargains can now eathumble pie as you don't get much better than an Alien Head for £74.99, bearing in mind that MovieTyme retails in for £300!.

By the way does anyone have any more info about this set?, will it come with the little figurine?, are the disc already in the head or do you get the standard 9 disc packaging (it case you get sick of the head or run out of room) and how the hell did HMV get an exclusive or something like this?.

HMV's site states the following

HMV Exclusive Limited Edition Alien Quadrilogy (9DVDs) ‘Alien Head’ Display Statue

Contents Includes:

Alien Quadrilogy 9DVD Box Set (Region 2)

Limited Edition Alien Head Display Case - Measures Approx 56CM Long, 30CM High & 20CM Wide - Features Slots Across The Top Of The Head To Hold All 9 DVDs

Therefore we can expect no DTS on Aliens and Alien3....

I bet people will pay £300 though for the DTS on all disks :)

i would of paid £150 for the Jap one for those extra 2 DTS tracks but defo no more than that

I very much doubt that - i hear that hmv dont charge until dispatch and as a result will not enter into any form of contract with the buyer until then.. due to many pricing errors placed on websites previously virtually all businesses now have a clause that says that until they accept the order (i.e by taking payment) then they are not obliged to fulfill orders.

At best i expect you'll get a clarification of what the actual price should be, which hopefully should be the one on the website :)

Virtually guaranteed? What are you talking about?, It would be illegal for them to charge more for delivery unless specified.

Postage is £1.40, as confirmed by my invoice. They can't just go around changing there delivery charges just because it's a bigger item you know.

As for DTS what'sthe biggie? Being an Alien fan I would much rather have the stuff that the Jap version loses.

From all reports the DTS shows an improvement in Aliens but is only equal on Alien 3. So is one audio improvement really worth paying an extra £200 odd quid for?, and losing the theatrical versions of Aliens and Alien 3 which are arguably better than the dir cuts. Oh and the audio commentary on 3 also goes. Finally some of the extras have burnt in jap subtitles on tem, hence you can't just switch them off!.

True fans wouldn't sacrifice the theatrical versions just for marginally improved audio on one film. Does the Jap version really seem so attractive now? Why people would pay an extra £200 to get a worse package is beyond me.

:) Illegal?

Okayyyyy...

Don't want to turn this thread into a big debate so I'll leave it there, other than to mention the disclaimer on HMV's site stating that they hve entered into no contract with you until they charge your card. And as far as changing delivery terms because it is a bigger item. Yup, they can do that too becuase this item is not viable for 1st class postge.

So have you ever had a company give you an invoice stating that delivery is costing you XXX and then later turn around and say Oh no, sorry, the postage is now YYY?. I would be shocked if any company ever did that to me never mind a reputable one like HMV. If they would do something like this they would have to use a KiloGram based scale of postage charges, but as they use a flat rate fee regardless of weight they won't deviate from it.

Why would HMV be bothered about shipping one product for £1.40?, they are getting £70 odd quid for a single purchase. Remember places like Amazon routinely give free postage for heavy items of value, so it's hardly gonna hurt there fianances is it.

I believe all UK postage for any item should be free, as if you should ever have to pay for things to be delivered and it's an absolute joke when you buy expensive things for hundreds of pounds and companies still try to scam you out of a few more quid for sending them.

Mmmm I know what you mean but I got the Quadrology set for £29 delivered. I dont see the point of paying £100 for the same thing just for the plastic head

That's because there is no logical point, you don't get a better movie experience by buying it. I guess the attraction is one of pure aesthetics, it's not meant to do anything just look neat lol. You need to decorate you room with something so it might as well be an Alien Head. Besides there will be a new Alien set in a couple of years anyway, my mate has the legacy set, quadrilogy and you can guarantee he will buy this when I let him now HMV do it for £86.
