Aldwych Station bans DSLRs

Hi,

A number of websites have recently covered the story about Aldwych Station banning the use of DSLR's on their guided tours, eg. here: DSLR ban: Row escalates as officials blame ‘spiral staircase' ....

This to me seem totally pointless... If the ban really is because of the quality of DSLRs then surely they should also be worried about people using bridge cameras or the high end mirrorless too. If it is a concern about the bulkiness of DSLRs then surely a bigger concern is the things people carry, eg. backpacks (whether they contain camera gear or not) etc. ?

I can't help but think whoever dreamt up the ban is totally ignorant of photography and equipment and really shouldn't be put in charge of such matters as creating policy about them.

Cheers,

John
