Can't see many buying an aldi player for £140 when you can get the main brand machines for the same price (Sony/Panasonic etc)

it could be the samsung or sony i cant find an advert for it so have no idea, although in the back of my mind i know it will probably be a tevion one! but i am only speculating, i cant imagine many of the local aldi shoppers i bump into (aisles arent very wide!) even having a dvd player yet let alone knowing what blu is:eek: vhs still rules supreme down there unfortunately
i got my first HDMI upscaling player from aldi that was great though unless they pull something amazing out of the bag with an new player i doubt anyone in the know would buy brand X over a sony for £10 less?

They may well do a bundle with a tevion player and say 5 blu's for the price you mention, otherwise it seems a little pointless.

Not seen anything on any of the German sites so far.

Could be a UK stock special especially since they've got Bluray discs (and they're not cheap in Germany).

It is not 21 movies!

It was the movie '21' - starring Kevin Spacey.

Check it out h**p://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/58_9933.htm

Not surprised at the brand but thats way too expensive for a supermarket branded player. Can't see them shifting many

Aldi do DVD and they even had a BD/HD DVD machine in at one point.

The last time I was in Netto they still had VHS tapes.

Looks complete tat like a £13.97 DVD player from Tesco.

For similar money you can get a branded machine which you know is going to be updated. Tevion stuff is good quality IME but I'd not buy a washing machine off them as that's not their bag. Bluray is cutting edge tech still so I'd wait a few months before buying a Bluray player off them.

Saying all that, were this to be multiregion that would be a good reason to give it a spin.

For those wanting an extended warranty, John Lewis do the fab Sony 350 with a 2 year warranty for £149 Buy Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray Disc Player online at JohnLewis.com

i have seen alot of the tevion stuff they sell, and it all looks rubbish, and as stated, that sort of price buy's you a decent sony nowdays.

Any body actually been down today to have a look?

Been to Plymouth store. No blu-ray discs to be seen!

Wouldnt touch another tevion player if they were the only brand on earth.

Had 2 of the Aldi upscaling Tevion DVD players both stopped reading discs really early in their life...both replaced under warranty & my most recent replacement has just died on me with the same fault for the 3rd time...it's now in the bin.

Looking for a budget HD-DVD player now to replace it.

I'll be getting a Panny or LG BD player in a few months seeing as they are only £20ish dearer than that Tevion deck...really not worth the money.

I wouldn't get cheap DVD players again so I wouldn't go for strange make for BD. The players were between £20 and £50 and all stopped reading discs within 6 months. I suspect due to them being cheap, they were using substandard DVD rom drives inside to save money. I don't want taht with a BD player.

So far the £100 (and a bit less) BD players have not been great. I'd rather spend the little more money on a Sony, Panasonic or LG.

The Panasonic BD35 is £150 and won't be around forever as it has been replaced and is a lot more money. No problems with my Sony S350 (and still works on original profile 1.1 firmware). The S360 won't be much different but can assume it will be more money than the S350 is now.

My local Aldi appears to have reduced the price of the Incredible Hulk to £5.59. Three copies have a stick on label stating reduced from £7.99 to £5.59 but all their BDs have no individual price on them including their other copies of The Hulk. The sign above them states all BDs are £9.99 as it did the last time I was in just last week. When I asked I was told it was only the discs with the reduced price sticker on them that were reduced.
