My ALBA RDVD 1002 just went poof! I changed the fuse in the plug but it is still in a deceased state. It must be the DVD recorder itself.

I bought it Jan 2007 from Tesco Direct so it is passed it's 12mth thingy.
I wouldn't mind so much but for 9mths it was in it's box in storage. So I have hardly used it.

My question to you is, is there something basic I can do to resurrect it?
Any ideas? Or do I just let it go to the DVD recycling centre in the sky?
:suicide:

Nope...you could complain to Tesco explain the circumstances and hope they'll take pity on you and replace it...worth a try.

So what would have caused it to go poof? There was big pop and it died. Or are there to many variables?

Bugger, I'm going to have to get another one now.

Probably a component in the power supply section.
I won't ask if it's worth opening it up in that case.:D

Any suggestions on an equivalent price range RDVD. I daren't start a thread as I know from perusing this section numerous times that the Sony Brigade will tell me off for buying inferior products:lesson::D bless em :rotfl:.

I am poor:blush:.

P.S Thanks for the answers:)

The Panasonic brigade will tell you off as well.

Really - if you are strapped for cash - It doesn't matter what you buy.

Just get the cheapest you can find... and better luck next time.
