I’m needing a bit of diagnostic advice please!

My sister has just bought the £200 LCD Alba TV from Argos. She also has a cheapy Alba DVD player which she got from Tesco.

Now, the problem is that we can’t work out how to get an RGB picture.

The TV manual says the scart socket is RGB.

The DVD player has RGB turned on in the menu.

We are using a good quality, 21 pin cable.

So, either the DVD player is not actually outputting an RGB signal or the TV is faulty or not actually RGB compliant.

As a test I connected the DVD player to my sisters old 15 inch CRT and the picture was spot on with none of the squirming around text that you see with a composite picture (esp on red things). However, when connected to the same TV and with RGB turned OFF on the DVD player, the picture remained good.

So, is the DVD player in fact NOT outputting an RGB signal and its just that the CRT copes with a composite feed extremely well (although if this is the case its the best composite picture I’ve ever seen!), or is the LCD TV faulty or not capable of RGB despite what the manual says....?

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks.
