The other half of Galton and Simpson. Best known for writing comedies such as Steptoe and Son.

Terrible news. I'm huge fan of Galton and Simpson's work. Their scripts were of exceptional quality. A very sad loss.

    RIP Alan.

Agreed. I was watching old episodes of Steptoe and Son over Christmas. The splitting of the house into two halves is still hilarious.

That was sheer genius. I especially enjoyed the bit when they were watching tv. I got the Lost Sitcom DVD for Christmas. It has the recent recreations of 2 of their scripts for Hancock and Steptoe. The Hancock was particularly well done and made me watch some of the original again. Twelve Angry Men is probably my favourite with The Missing Page a close second.

Harold Steptoe: [trying to convince Albert to change the channel of the partitioned TV set] We had an agreement, we shook hands. I have got the law of contract on my side.

Albert Edward Ladysmith Steptoe: I have the knobs on my side.

Albert Edward Ladysmith Steptoe: [looking at old newspapers] 'Ere, I remember this - Mussolini invades Albania - King Zog flees.

Harold Steptoe: That's nothing mate, we got King Size fleas here!

    Still wonderful.

Not forgetting Hancock all time classic The Blood Donner which I can remeber the majority of Hancock's punchlines.
Agreed The Missing Page also one of my favorites and on the radio shows The Student Prince. The series are often broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Ex channel 708 on Feeview and on at 7.30 tonight and weekly also at 8.30 am. Also Steptoe and Son on there Tues mid day and 7pm
A side note to the brilliant Steptoe and Son I believe Harry H Corbett thought of a curse he wanted to be a serious actor but got tagged as a comedy actor.
