Does anyone know when or if Mr 'Sports Casual' is making a 3rd series? Saw 'I'm Alan Partridge' again last night and IMHO it is the best comedy ever. It'll be a crime if only 12 episodes are ever made.

Was the series ever released on DVD? I know it was due to be released and I was looking forward to it but for some reason it was shelved.

It was released on DVD, but withdrawn about a week afterwards. There are a few thousand copies out there and you might get lucky if you look on ebay. Doubtless they'll release it properly soon though, probably with more extras than the original.

Couldn't agree more - here's abit of the script:

Alan: ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’. What a great song. It really encapsulates the frustration of a Sunday, doesn’t it? You wake up in the morning, you’ve got to read all the Sunday papers, the kids are running round, you’ve got to mow the lawn, wash the car, and you think “Sunday, bloody Sunday!”.

Irish Guy 1: I really hate to do this to you, Alan, but it’s actually a song about –

Irish Guy 2: Yeah, Bloody Sunday is actually about a massacre in Derry in 1972.

Alan: A massacre? Ugh. I’m not playing that again.

There are some audio clips here:

    SPOILERS

Went to see the first episode of the third series being filmed a few weeks ago and you will be impressed by it.
Same format as I'm Alan Partridge, he's moved out of the travel tavern into a caravan and is having a house built.
His popularity has increased (he's now the third most popular DJ at Radio Norwich), he has a russian girlfriend, Characters still there are Lyn (his PA) and Michael (insane geordie).
In the first episode he goes back to his old school to give a talk on what it's like to be a celebrity. Look out for "fat alan".
Script is good, "jurassic park" one-liners are fantastic, acting quality. So it should be good by the time it hits the screen.

It took four bloody hours to film 30 minutes though.
