Sad news this morning - Alan Ball has died of a heart attack aged 61.
As an Everton fan and living in Portsmouth i have many fond memories of Alan, Its a sad day
As a Man City fan can I add my sincere condolences to the family of Alan. Still young at 61 ... a real shame.
"And maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me ....
and after all, you're my Alan Ball ..... "

Sad, sad news. He was the baby of the team.
Great man...Great footballer...a very sad day indeed
Yeah sad news and he was still in love with the game as well,RIP.
Sad news. The inspiration at the heart of the midfield in 66', MOTM according to his team-mates, a great player at Blackpool and Everton, and although he played at an Arsenal team in decline, still a great inspirational player for us. At Southampton he helped McMenemy create a team that was the epitome of his playing ethos, hard working, tough, but still capable of great football.
A real loss.
RIP Alan Ball, 1996 WCW and MBE.
A shock and sad news.
My thoughts go to those who're affected by his passing.
Sadly I had to quit footy at age 15 due to injury which caused me to loose interest in the game but until that time Alan Ball had been my Hero and roll model in the game. I think he was greatly underrated as a player and was a great ambassador of the game. I am very sad to hear this news.
Great player, pretty pants manager by all accounts, but a real shock as it wasn't as if his health appeared to be in decline.
61 is a young age to go these days, very sad...
All the best Alan
