just planning to go to us, about to book my flight

think im deciding between virgin atlantic and ba

having flown ba few months back, they have individual tv screens but while they have 16odd movies these all start at a set time (every 2.5 hours or so) so that if you miss the start you cant rewind or pause etc.

cf with singapore air where you have so called ondemand
entertainment with 100 odd channels, a huge playlist of songs and games, and all films you can start and pause at will

basically does anyone know whether virgin atlantic from
heathrow to ny (prob jfk) will have this ondemand ent
    in economy class

seem comparable pitches, 31 or 32 inches depending where you look,

heres a handy site if you are about to fly, just dont nick my seat

I flew Virgin to Florida last year (Premium Economy Seat pitch 38" & 20" wide) & it was NOT on demand entertainment.

Have you tried looking for a flight with US Airways. I flew with them a while back and they had Video On Demand, Games on Demand and various tv shows.

cheers both of you, reckon i will take a chance with branson, as i think i know what to expect with ba, and i found a site of virgin trip reports which suggests a 50 50 chance of getting the so called vport tv.
liked the sound of united, but have suspicions about buying tickets in dollars!

Ging with my own experiences of BA, you should go with them if you want a better chance of having your luggage lost or them cancelling the flight without them bothering to tell you.

I thought they couldn't p*ss me off any more but then they went and retired Concorde..............

Flew to Hong Kong and back last year in Feb/Mar with Virgin, in "sardine"* class - for less than GBP300 round trip inc. taxes etc - and it was plenty comfortable; plus the entertainment WAS on-demand. I guess it depends on the aircraft/route.

Just don't fly BA. They couldn't give a monkeys about their economy customers. (IMO).

The Virgin Gatwick 747s to Orlando still have an old Nova entertainment system. It has just had some new movie channels added though, but all movies start at the same time and then re-cycle when the longest one finishes.

I believe the new upper class suits have the latest V-Port system, that does have movies on demand.

The Gatwick to Orlando 747s also do not have Nintendo games :(

If you've not decided yet have a look at BMI, we flew with them last year to california and they were easily the best long haul company I've been with (better than BA, virgin, united, continental that I've flown with in the last few years).
