    Hi all.
I had my condeser on my car air con replaced just under a year ago and the air con had stopped working again . If you look at the condeser they is a horizontal line of tracer dye running across the front of it about a 1/4 way down from the top. Is it possible that a new condenser could be faulty like this , or could the gas from the air con have sprayed on to it from somewhere else ? . It is a 2l w plate focus .

difficult to say without seeing a picture , but i suspect its knackered , and finally , of course a newish part can go south quickly , was it new though , or a recon , if you can get such a thing of course ...

Yes , its at the front of the engine , and I could be convinsed it was stone chip if just in a couple of places, how ever its in a straight line right across the front of the condenser and not just in a couple of small places .

If the garage decide its a stone chip leak your out of luck, you can have a new condenser fitted drive up the road and bang.....gone again by a random stone.
We had almost the same in the works connect van and had to pay up again.

We went to Ford for the first repair but had it done by one of the mobile air con fitters as they are much cheaper for parts and re gassing, always get an estimate first as well mate by whoever.

So I may just have to swollow it then and get it redone . What's to stop it happening again ? Cab you get re enforced condensers that are stone proof ?

Yup could have a newun fitted (dont go to Ford) and go down the road......Bang gone again, would be unlucky though but could happen.

Nothing is 100% but what could help is some mesh like THIS very small stones might get through but it would stop larger ones and might take the sting out of the smaller bits.

It also looks good as well IMO.

Does anyone know why the air-con is now blowing colder air through the drivers side vents than the center and passenger vents? I got the previous problem fixed but now this is happening!

I don't know about your car, but my Peugeot 407 has a fault common on the 407 where the flap inside the heater assembly for any one side can break and cause the climate control to only work on one side...mine needs fixing :(

Is fixing the diverter an easy inexpensive job ? Is it likely that the drivers side will eventually stop working ?

Guessing this has twiddly knob controls, they will pull on cables, Wroxham would suggest one has detached itself and a flap is sick in position, try turning said knob in a quiet environment to see what you can hear or not hear a the case may be....

Also after checking the temperature at the one vent that is cool, the temperature only goes as low as10 degrees C, is that right or should it be lower?

Shouldnt they all go down lower than 10c no matter the age? Mine cools down to 10c then takes ages to get to 7c,if i want it to reach 5c then i have to turn the fan right down, have you tried turning the fan down?

When you say turn the fan down do you mean reduce the speed of the fan to a lower setting?

More air going over the evaporator more time to cool the air.

The slower the air flow the longer it is in contact with the cooling fins and the colder it gets. I'd keep an eye on it and if it gets any worse take it back.
