Have just bought a Denon AVR-3802 second hand to replace my Yamaha DSP-A5 Amp . Problem is this - I have cables running from the lounge to the kitchen, where a small pair of Gale monitors reside. On the Yamaha I was using Speakers A+B to switch the monitors on and off. Worked fine. Got the Denon, realised not only now could I do the same using the multi-zone/source function, but could actually listen to a separate souorce in the second zone - so my girlfriend can listen to Hollyoaks in the kitchen whilst I'm watching a DVD in the lounge ...or so I thought. Problem is that I can get the multi-zone working fine. I've set the Amp to "Multi" and, by switching multi-zone to "source" I can monitor in the kitchen whatever I am listening to in the lounge, at whatever volume I'm listenign in the lounge. Great. HOWEVER If I use the Source / Rec button to choose to listen to any other source in the kitchen, it comes out at what appears to be approaching full volume (Probably woke the neighbours up when I discovered this at 2am this monring). So I trawl through the manual and it tells me that the Multi-Source Volume is adjusted through the "Multi Vol. Level" adjustment on the setup menu. I go in to the set-up menu and... it's missing! There's a blank gap where "Multi Vol. Level" should be!. Also missing is "SB CH Auto Flag Detect". ie The manual says the menu should show: System Setup Menu Power Amp Assignment Speaker Configuration SB CH Auto Flag Detect Delay Time Channel Level Digital In Assignment Multi Vol Level On Screen Display Auto Tuner Presets but I get: System Setup Menu Power Amp Assignment Speaker Configuration Delay Time Channel Level Digital In Assignment On Screen Display Auto Tuner Presets There is actually a gap where the missing menu items should be!!! The annoying thing is that as I can't switch between 0db, -40db and variable for the multi vol level adjustment I can't control the volume from the remote using "Multi" and the Volume Buttons on the Amp. I'm in work now but should be heading home at lunchtime to have a further play. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps, in the Speaker Configuration menu, I turned "off" "Sp Back" as I'm using the channel for multi-zone but should leave this switched on - but very confused as if it's blanking the Vol Adjust menu how come I'm getting adjustable volume in Zone2 on Source? Or perhaps the Amp is not sensing the speakers and hence is not showing the option? Or perhaps I'm just stuck with listening to monitoring whichever source I'm listening to in the lounge (its not really been a probelm before) - although it would be great to get this sorted. I may try re-initialising the amp too. If anyone is running a 5.1 setup off the Amp along with multi-zone on variable volume - can you possibly post your speaker configuration settings for me? Long post for a newbie - please accept my apologies - and I hope someone can help!
