Question After a new AVR...

Situation is this. I have a 5.1 system hooked up to a Yamaha RX-N600D AVR. I also own a Amazon FireTV (Gen1) which is hooked up the AVR via an optical cable. Up until the last update this gave me DD 5.1 from Amazon Prime and Netflix. Now they are both stereo and some other apps (BBC iPlayer) have no sound at all!

My thoughts are to replace the AVR with one with HDMI ports and plug the FireTV box into it directly (in order to restore 5.1 sound).

Initially I was looking at a number of Denon amps (I had one years ago and the sound was excellent), however I cannot find proof that they can decode Dolby Digital+ which is a must.

I have also considered Pioneer SC-LX801 or the Yamaha RX-A1060.

Any suggestions or recommendations from you good folks would be appreciated.

Thanks.
