Hi all, little bit of advice needed. I was originally in two minds about whether to go the all-in-one or seperates route. I have settled on seperates and I am looking to get a hold of a progressive scan capable DVD player with component out to start building my system. Budget is around £150. Are there any affordable progressive scan players with NTSC and PAL compatibility at this price range? I have heard that the cheaper players can struggle with progressive scan. Any suggestions or comments are welcome?

I know the Cambridge DVD55 is an option. How about the Tosh SD530 (£125 Multi-Reg from Richer Sounds)? Is the Tosh NTSC and PAL progressive?

I would love a Jamo DVR50 but they are a bit pricey.

How do pioneer players work with Panasonic TVs? I heard there was an issue with this combo, am I right?

Are they much better than the Tosh I mentioned?

The new Toshiba sd340 has PAL Progressive Scan. You can get that for around £90.

565 is NTSC PS only. The new 575 does PAL and NTSC prog scan and is available from about £150.

I like the look of the Pioneer 470. I don't really need the SACD and DVD Audio that the 575 provides.

At the moment I am erring towards the Pioneer 470 over the Tosh sd340 as the Pioneer is PAL and NTSC prog scan.

It's not out yet though, which is a bummer.

    Waser,

I think that if the Toshiba 340 does PAL PS, you can expect it to do NTSC PS also.

    Steve,

My understanding is that it doesn't...

    But I'm probably wrong... :)
