Any suggestions on a good but affordable amp for my B&W N803's?

So far I am considering Rotel and Musical Fidelity... How about an ss amp and tube pre? Will it work too?

    Rotel & N803:eek:

How about the Parasound 2205 on ebay thats's mentioned in this forum? You could bi-amp the 803's and make them sing?

What amp are you using at present, and what sort of budget did you have in mind?
Both of your choices are good amps, and should in general work very well with the Nautilus 803s.
Avoid any amps which have problems with low impedance and highly reactive loads(as the Nautilus range are at low frequencies, where current deamnds are highest),and if your budget will stretch that far, consider Chord and Krell.

This will be a new system so I do not have any amps or receivers to begin with. My system will be used for both music and movies in a 22'x20'x8' room. And the speakers are as follows in case it will affect your suggestions:

    Fronts - 803
    CC - HTM2
    Side - 600
    Rear - 600

My budget would be around $2000-3000 for now for the receiver/pre/pro plus amp.

What Krell models do you suggest in case I want to make that jump?

I would agree with the Arcam P7. If you haven't purchased your speakers yet also consider the HTM1 instead of the HTM2. I have had both in my system and the HTM1 is a closer match to the 803's.

You do mean $ and not £?

If you're expecting to spend $2000-$3000 on a processor and amplifier combined then you are going to have big problems finding something that can drive 803s.

Tall order even if thats in £s.....I'd suggest something rugged like one of the Rotel multichannel amps for a look, and would also say that a jump to Krell is going to be a big one...there is nothing that they produce that would remotely fit that price bracket, unless you found a 2nd hand KAV250 for instance, which is a very good machine indeed...no processor though.

What Krell gear do you recommend and around how much do they sell?

As before...depends on what your budget is.

A secondhand KAV500 will be around £2k,and the newer multichannel amps are considerably more, especially so when you afctor a processor into the costs.

You could also take a look at the Parasound Halo series amps and processor, which offer very good value and build quality.

I'd also have to admit to being biassed towards Krell,as the amps are pretty much unbreakable, and all deliver well in excess of their rated power.
