    Hi,
Everything seems to be working on my system:
    Pioneer PDP435XDE 42" plasma
    Panasonic E95
    Sky +

However, a message keeps appearing on the screen:

"The aerial cable has short circuited. Check cable and plug in again."

If I press the menu button on and off, it disappears, but it appears next time I turn the units on.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks,
    Shirley

Are you getting a normal pic and sound?
Which "Menu" button are you talking about....Pioneer, Panasonic or Sky+?

I am getting a normal picture and sound, that's why it is weird !
The message is coming from the Pioneer PDP435XDE 42" plasma system.
It has been there from the beginning but once it goes away everything still works normally.

    Thanks,
    Shirley

Have you checked the cable? Maybe a stray strand from the screen is touching the central conductor inside a co-ax connector.

If you have an external aerial connected to the TV there could be water in the junction box at the aerial (especially if it's an old installation), and I hate to sound depressing, but water running down inside a downlead isn't unknown.

You may be able to isolate it in stages. If the downlead ends in a wall socket, unplug the co-ax. Thre won't be a signal, but a short in the cable connected to the TV may be detected.

If the aerial is plugged into the Sky+ or DVDR unplug it and plug it in to the Pioneer directly and see if you still get the message.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Yes The downlead requires replacement.

Whether damage has occurred will depend on which piece of equipment the downlead was connected and how much water may have seeped in or for how long.

    You should be ok.

Disconnect TV from mains and ensure everything is as dried out as possible.

Tissues - Hair drier - NOT on a hot setting though. Cool or gentle warmth at most.
