My AE300 that I purchased in 2003 (from new) has stopped working.

I went to turn it on and it powers up, but there is (or was) a flashing red lamp light.

Now this was last week, now when I turn it on, there is no flashing red lamp light, and the power light simply keeps flashing on and off, but no image is displayed still.

The lamp only had 2400 hours on low.

Any ideas? Is it definately the lamp?

    Thanks.

It does stink of it, 2400 hours and 4 years is pretty good going.

I thought these lamps were good for 5000 hours?

Or does the increasing age of the lamp also lessen its lifetime?

    They quote 'up to 5000hrs'

Out of curiosity, is the 2400hrs in low mode displayed via the secret(ish) menu, or just via the standard display menu, as the standard display usually only increments up to 2000 before suggesting a new lamp (that's what it does on my Epson, & also if i remember correctly, my brothers Pana AE100!)
In my brothers case, the standard menu shows 800 hrs, but he has used it in low mode, & via the secret(ish) menu (something like holding option down for 30s) the lamp has actually been used for 2000 hrs out of the 5000.
I'm only refering to what i think is right regards the AE100, it may be different with the AE300??

Whats the cheapest place to obtain another lamp?

If its going to cost ridiculous money then I think I might just ebay it and cut my losses.

Not sure mate, I only ever really used the projector maybe once a week to watch a film, but the last time I checked about a month ago it said 2300 hours on the lamp when I went into options.

Damn, thats a lot of money for me.

I was thinking maybe £50 might me ok, but not that much.

I'm thinking now that I might just sell the thing, and put whatever I get towards an LCD or summat :suicide:
