Does the shutter mode on the AE100 actually help in prolonging the life of the bulb ?

If I leave the PJ for 20 mins to check email I "feel" it's better to engage shutter mode rather than turn it off and on again 20 mins later. Am I right or wrong - what do others do?

    Cheers

Shutter mode just blanks the LCD panels - doesn't affect the bulb in any way IIRC.

So, to shutter or not to shutter. That is the question.

    It makes no odds ;)

The HS10 however does have a functioning "sleep" option. Bulb powers down after 20 mins of no signal - handy!

Yet another reason to upgrade to a HS10. Go on, you know you want one

    Leave it!!!:nono:

Seriously, thanks for the feedback. I'm more than happy with my Panny for now. Perhaps when the HS10 drops to £799 I may consider it :smashin:

    Cheers
