The forums suggest that you cannot make a scart RGB - VGA cable for the Panasonic AE100 as it wont sync down to 15Hz ( The Vertical sync frequency. )
But is this valid for a Prog Scan player?
If a player is outputting Pscan is the Vertical sync frequency doubled, and therefore shouldn't the AE100 be able to detect it ?
Is Prog scan output to Scart as well as component connection ?
Does anybody understand what I'm saying ?

    As I understand it.
A component video signal is a video signal that is broken down into component parts.
RGB is a component signal, the three seperate colour components.
YPbPr is another version, where the luminance is removed form the red and blue channel, and is carried on the green.
Now on DVD players Prog Scan is delivered down the YPbPr component outputs, but players with a VGA output are also delivering Prog Scan through the VGA connection.
But what about Scart RGB ?
Is it always interlaced, or could it carry Prog Scan signals ?
Does the Scart to VGA cable for a Z1 only carry interlaced.

Scart RGB is, by nature, interlaced.

Only component can (presently) carry progressive signals (well, also DVI - kind of "digital progressive", & VGA).

VGA can carry different types of signal. RGBHV, YPbPr etc..

Scart to VGA = interlaced (ie. RGB)

In other words. The Ae100 can only take progressive on component. It cannot accept RGB via VGA port because it cannot sync down to the required refresh rate.

    Are you winning mcaw?
