    Hi,

I've just purchased the AEGIS EVO 3B speaker package & have a query regards the evo centre speaker.

When this speaker is used all of the dialog etc comes out of the left bass/mid unit. The tweeter is working fine. Is this normal?

Has anybody else out there got the evo centre and can confirm / deny this?

On investigation, when trying some bass material you can see both drive units moving, unless it's just the pressure within the cabinet moving the right hand side drive unit?

I would have assumed that dialog etc would have come out of both the bass/mid units?

    Thanks.

I've got this speaker and cant say I've noticed. Does it sound bassy? Mine sounds very nice and bright for dialog, one of the big improvements over my old setup.

I'm getting a little deaf in me dotage.

If you look at the specs for the center on their website it says that the center speaker is a 3way speaker. So yes you will get more dialog from one side.

    Thanks,

Just had a response from AE who confirmed that even though they are the same drive units one is used for bass & the other for mid using a 3rd order crossover.

    Nige-B,

My brother has the same set up and his is the same, so no need to worry. When I got my speaker package (Mordaunt-Short) I had a close listen to mine and seems that each driver works pretty much the same, which led me to believe the AE centre was faulty, obviously not though, it must be just the way they work.

I suspect the fact you can hear sound from one driver over the other means your speaker is faulty. My first Evo had a faulty driver but the second is fine.
