Advice, s'il vous plait

30 seconds? .. .that's 75 degrees or possibly 90 on the latest + 20% fast Darkmotors ..

:rotfl: Was just using that as an example mate.:smashin:
Wouldn't honestly know how many sec it take when i go from one sat to another, hasn't really bothered me that much to time it.

Thanks again mate, i'll take a look at the site.

I find this forum to be the most helpful to be honest, full of members like yourself that have been there and done it, experience that is invaluable to people like me who buy things and then wonder how it's all supposed to work, haha.

You have the hard work to come, setting it all up.
There's plenty of site with help also.
Satpimps is very good for the V+Duo.
Also theres other things that can't be talked about, worth reading up on. ;)

You mean you won't be setting it up for me :( I thought payment via the 'Thanks' button and a cup of tea would suffice:laugh:

I work in the IT industry so i'm hoping it won't be much of a challenge but i've said that before:blush:

I'd never touched anything like a linuxs box when i brought a sat box, went from a TM1500 to the TM9100 which was a dog of a box with **** software from TM. Me and a few others started a little forum to help others like ourselfs.
Honetly i spent 5/6 hours in the evening trying to set it up.Caused murders in my house. Luckily there's lots more help out there now days and the software is so much better.

Your be fine. ;)

Sounds like I shouldn't drink too much wine when I set it up then, the box I mean.. I'll need plenty of 'dutch courage' to get up the ladder

I'm just browsing the site you kindly linked me to, why I didn't choose the Summer to do all this I don't know:suicide:

Are you setting dish up youself?
Very brave man, never done it myself and don't
think i'd ever want to try. Especially this time of year.

Have you spoke to any local installers on fee for setting dish up?
May be worth having a look about.

the ability to move the dish to any of the satellites that are available on the 'arc'
Which in turn leads to the question - what are you going to do with the satellites when you get to them?
Our hobby enthusiast says "Everyone goes on about get LNB set at 13e 19e and your be fine, sorry i disagree. With motorised your have everything, especially if your after football", but how many viewing cards does that need for your requirements, as you originally stated them?
As I said earlier: "As you're planning to buy a viewing card for some European package of channels, all you'll need for that is a fixed dish aligned on whatever satellite carries that package."
That remains a fact, but of course, if you're jumping into the motorised hobby ahead of me, and actually intend to do a lot more then that one package, then it is the motor and the specialised receiver for you.
Whatever type of receiver you go for there is certainly a lot of choice and I'd definitely recommend a thorough liook through the many sites like the one that thfccambs linked to. I'm also with him on getting a professional to do the installation, whatever kind of dish you go for.

Logi, the reason i'd advice motorised especially for someone wanting football is.
Each year better and better deals come for EPL games, card are from £200 to £1000. These are on atleast 6 diffrent sats. So if the OP brought say a tring card 16e and set an LNB up for that come next season when another provider comes up with a better deal , on 1w he'll not need to worry about getting his LNB moved or changed. Also EPL games are shown on all diffrent sats at the momnet, so with a motorised dish you have more of a chance to see the game/team you want. You can get loads of sport on FTA also (as most will tell you EG boxing lastnight) so why pay loads to uncle ruphert.:D

Logi, we all know you want to go motorised.;)

I did contact a local installer via Email and he responded and offered a FREE site visit, upon Emailing him back to confirm requirements and the 'parts' I wanted, no reply:(

Don't get me wrong I will contact some others, but in all honesty I can't really say the prospect of putting a motorised dish up daunts me, especially depending on what someone would want to do it:rolleyes:

thfccambs pretty much sums it up very well, a fixed dish may well be suitable for the interim but then should I wish to 'expand' my requirements or choose to watch FTA (I didnt realise the boxing was FTA last night - I paid :() 'events' that would require my 18stone frame up the ladders and tweaking the dish.

Why don't you jump in with both feet, that way ywe'll be in the same boat rowing in the same direction:blush:

Definitely go the motorised route if you can. More choice up there than those 3 main birds and, like Mr THFC says, some of the best football coverage is elsewhere at the moment.

I had mine installed by a pro - didn't have the confidence to try something that complex on my own. And anyways, that's what the Pedro's and Rick's of this world are there for!

You could be right, or I may man up and run up the ladder like i've been doing it all my life:suicide:

'Chorley'Matt, now then... I'm from Chorley, so maybe your installer could be... MY installer:smashin:

How many sugars does Matt take also.:rotfl:
Sure he'll pop around and help set it all up for you.;)

Yep FTA on 19.2 also HD.

:rotfl: I'll give him a bag of sugar if he does :rotfl:

Is it wrong that i'm so excited about getting all of this:blush:

Still on Sat-Shop.co.uk - Sat-Shop.co.uk Online Satellite and Electronics Store from Lavatronics, they don't seem to have the dish, LNB or Motor that I wanted to use:(

Although they do have the box with a Tring+ sub, or should I buy the 'dish deal' from them too:confused:

Pedro and Rick would be best to ask about those mate.
Have you tried contacting them see if you can get a deal?

Sure it CLICKY that runs the site. Worth ago mate.

These are on at least 6 different sats.
EPL games are shown on all different sats at the moment
And as I said "if you intend to do a lot more than that one package, then it is the motor and the specialised receiver for you".
As I said ;) "how many viewing cards does that need" and more important how much are they?

I didnt realise the boxing was FTA last night

I did realise, and could have watched it from my primitive fixed dish, as you could if you went for the same, and without any "18stone frame up the ladders and tweaking the dish" required.
They're a satellite receiver store aren't they, rather than a dish store, but wouldn't you be better anyway getting that part of it, the dish and so on, supply and fix, from a local installer, or an AVF poster ;) installer?

Well, I think Rick is based over Blackburn way. Pedro is in Cheshire so not sure if he'd cover Chorley, you may have to ask him VERY nicely. The gent I used was based on the Wirral.

It'd take something a bit stronger than sugar to get me up a ladder in monsoon season pal!!

Everyone goes on about get LNB set at 13e 19e and your be fine, sorry i disagree.
With motorised your have everything, especially if your after football. Best sats for football ATM are 16e
1w and 4.8e which no one seems to mention.
If you could easily set up 5/6 LNBs then i may come around to that way of thinking
as zapping channel would be instant. As i don't think it will be that easy to set up i'm quite
happy with waiting 30 seconds for my dish to move.

From reading your only use the motorised dish when football on anyway so
won't be a major problem waiting for dish to move.

I agree (Yes really!:smashin:), 16e has been a stablemate of EPL & the best coverage v price (Even when DigiAlb had it), I just think its a shame Tring isnt a more high quality production, 4.8e is a tricky one in regards to dish & official card costs.:smashin:

:p If only I was as knowledgeable the money saved could have gone towards the new setup.

I don't think any of us believe a fixed dish is primitive, merely another option to explore:blush:

I shall PM and ask VERY nicely, if i'm refused then it'll be a horses head:blush:

I'm sure I could stick some brandy in it for you, not sure you'd still want the sugar though;)

I didn't mean that the idea of a fixed dish is primitive, far from it. It's my particular one that's primitive, but it still does a perfect job of bringing in the channels from 13E and 19E, including the German HD one that was carrying for free what you paid - I believe? - £15 for.

 you are correct, and the worst of it is... I fell asleep:facepalm:

I ended up watching it at 9am this morning once i'd seen the result in the paper already:rolleyes:

Sorry, Love this 1.1 metre beast:smashin:..

The Triax TD110 is a good choice of dish. I would go for a TM-2600 over the Dark Motor. I've had motor control issues with the last 2 Dark Motor's I've fitted. Inverto Black Ultra LNB. The Vu+ is an excellent choice in reciever.

Sky Italia is around the £1000 per year mark depending on what options you go for, but you do get alot of 3pm EPL as well as Movie Channels and General Entertainment channels comparable to Sky UK. Most, but not all has English Audio.

For the Football, Viasat is the best package this season, comes in a little more than Sky Italia. Tring is a cheap little package showing some less recent english audio films, and some EPL inc some 3pm's at under £300 for 12 months, not fab picture quality, but worth considering.
