I have come into a bit of cash and have decided to upgrade (possibly) from my Toshiba 32" strata (fantastic picture) to a Plasma to save floor space.
I know everone raves about the Panny pw6 , but I was curious about the Samsung PS42V4SX - it has good contrast etc and is 1024 by 1024
    http://www.digiuk.com/productdetail.asp?id=2126&c=355874&guid=&s=

Does anyone have any experience with this screen ? Also will I actually get an improvement or degradation in picture quality going from a Tosh CRT to Plasma ?

    Many Thanks

mmmmm Looking closer I think they have misquoted the spec for that model it is actually 852 X 480
    The other model PS42P4AX is 1024 X 1024
Has anyone actually seen or got one of these Samsung's or would most people recommend a Panny ?

    Thanks

It's a w-vga, like all samsungs. 852x480. 3000:1 they say, bet they haven't cured the solarisation and banding, the older ones were pretty horrid. Considering the price of a Hitachi (hi res) or panasonic (hi contrast) I can't see the point in saving a couple of hundred quid for an inferior product.

Try the panasonic if you can afford one, about £2250 these days. I do not personally recommend hitachi, though some members here get on well with them.

    Hiya Jimbob

I have just upgraded from a Tosh 32ZD26P Strata to a Panny PW6, and it is fantastic. Excellent blacks. DVD via component is crisp and cinematic. Sky via the scart card is good. Also have just tried my laptop via VGA and WOW. The image is so solid and sharp, colours are spot on. You should really demo one

    Hiya Jimbob

The Panasonic in Midsummer Place have one on demo. That plus the the rave reviews on these boards helped me make the jump.

    Cheers
