Hi all, I've been a forum lurker here for a while, and have searched through many posts related to the equipment I'm considering, and found lots of really useful information. I've almost finished the refurbishment of a house and am ready to spec the AV system. In the past I've had a couple of small home cinema setups, usually based around Sony gear, but last year I bought the Pioneer 504 for my office, and have become a Pioneer convert! Ok, so here's the system I'm considering (20/80 music/film): Pioneer PDP-505XDE Plasma Pioneer DV-868AVi-S DVD Player (for the HDMI and scaling) Pioneer VSX-AX5Ai-S Amp/Receiver (for the i.Link) Kef KHT 5005 7.1 Speakers From searches on google, it appears that I can buy the seperates for about £800 less than say Sevenoaks, but my guess is that having everything from one supplier, custom installed, will pay off in the future. In terms of sources, in addition to the DVD player, they'd be a PC, a Mac, an XBox, and Sky+. The speaker cabling that's been recomended is the Silver Aniversary from Sevenoaks. I wondered if you guys might be able to help with the following questions: - Can you think of a better option for a similar budget? (around £8k) - How much better is the 868 than the 920 (scaling etc)? - Is the 868 likely to be superceded soon? It seems to have been out a while now. - Should I be considering the AX10i? (it doesn't seem that much more expensive), or perhaps a different amp altogether? - Would the Kef's be a good combination for this system? - Should I swap the sub, perhaps for a Rel Q150? - For music, should I consider some floor-standing speakers as the left/rights (and./or sacrafice the 7.1 for 5.1?) Thanks in advanced for any help you can give! Paul/Locki.
