I have a Sony KDL40D3000 TV connected via HDMI to a Sony RDR-HXD870 DVDR. Can someone please advise on what resolution I should use on the DVDR HDMI output. The TV has a screen resolution of 1366x768 and supports formats of 1080p, 1080i and 720p. The DVDR will output 1920x1080i and 1280x720p. At present the DVDR is set to its default of 1920x1080i.

    Many thanks

    David

There are no hard and fast rules about this. There is no right answer.

It is simply a question of experimenting and finding the setting that suits you best.

You will probably find you get different results according to source.
DVD playback tends to be better using a progressive setting, other sources are probably OK using interlaced settings.

There are many variables and circumstances involved... and upscaling, being a fakery solution also introduces it's own problems.

Whatever you think looks the best, IS the best.
