I have been looking at this forum for sometime now and have found it invaluable.

I am hoping to buy an Hitachi 42PD5300 in the New Year. My living room is not big and I will sit about 9 feet from the screen.

I notice on the forum the other day that another member was thinking about buying the 37" as he would only sit about 8 feet away.

Can anyone advise me whether I am not sitting far enough away to properly appreciate a 42" and whether I would be better off with the 37"?

    Thanks

    yep - go 42".
Silly me went for 37" at only 8 to 9 feet away a couple months ago.
You just dont realise how small the overall 'footprint' of these thin screens are and the effect is that the set looks smaller than my old 28". I wish i'd gone 42 - do it - if its too big I'll swap with you :)
