    Hi,
I have just bought 2 of these for my kids for christmas.
not a bad little player for the money, I have made them multi region via a remote hack
    open the dvd tray
    press 81328 on the remote
press enter to cycle through the regions, 9 is region free
press menu to exit menu and save the changes.

It will also play dvd-r and dvd-rw
    hope this helps
    all the best Dean

ps. it is the venturer pvs123 model
