Not sure if I'm in the right place with this? I've currently got a Sony DAVS500 which is used for cd's,dvd's and skyfilms & it's been a great system but I now feel I need to upgrade & think separates is the way to go. Presumably I need an amplifier,DVD & set of surround sound speakers any advice would be greatly appreciated. Paul.

OK I'll ask the questions before anybody else jumps in:

    What is your budget?
What is more important - movie or music or 50/50?
    What size is the room?
What other equipment will it be used with? ie TV etc

otherwise I could suggest a great system costing well over £20k, but somehow I doubt your budget will stretch that far (and if it does I want commission  ).

    Mark.

Cheers MarK I'd probs happily pay £2000. 50/50 split on movies & music although it's heavy towards music really. Room is average size for a 3 bed semi. My TV is a Sony 32FQ75. Sadly output isn't a big factor (joys of living in a semi!) more sound quality I guess?. To get round this I bought a set of Sony MDR-DS5100 surround headphones which have been superb has it's own decoder so it's a must anything I buy has optical digital out. Many thanks Paul.
