im upgrading my PC to an i7 etc etc,

im struggling with the RAM tho,

ive decided i want Corsair Dominator ram,

its between this
Corsair 12GB (6X2GB) 1600MHz 8-8-8-24 Dominator with DHX+, Supports Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition [CMD12GX3M6A1600C8] Memory

or
Corsair Dominator GT 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C8 2000MHz Triple Channel Kit (CMG6GX3M3A2000C8) [CMG6GX3M3A2000C8] Memory

theres also
Corsair Dominator GT 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C7 1866MHz Triple Channel Kit (CMG6GX3M3A1866C7) [CMG6GX3M3A1866C7] Memory
which kinda an inbetween on the speeds

price isnt the issue, when i set out with my budget in mind i didnt want to cut any corners, at the risk of answering my own question

this is to go with with an i7 920 2.6 chip and EVGA x58 classified mobo with v10 cooling for the CPU

the rig is basically for hardcore gaming :)

any thoughts advice or opinions all greatly appreciated

thanks for your time peeps

personally i think with what ever choice you go for there you will not notice a difference in performance.

so why not just go for the 12 GIG and have bragging rights?

You could have spent around £100 on crucial value PC3-10600 3x2GB and £25 on a corsair fan to cover it lol and seen no difference in gaming whatsoever. I have seen people clocking this ram past 2500MHz on a DFI X58 board and over 2800MHz on the a MSI P55, GD80 i think

Past 1600MHz you get diminishing returns anyway. [email protected] is just about the best performance you will see with triple channel ram
