Hi all,

I have an Arcam DV88 connected to a Yamaha receiver for HT use. To increase musical quality of my setup I am now considering the A85 integrated possibly in combination with Monitor Audio's Gold Reference 10 standmounted speakers (I preferred them over the B&W CDM-1NT's when auditioning).

    Any suggestions/comments on this?

    Thanks,
Marcel

Soudn like a good choice to me. Both the DV88 and A85 can be upgraded for multichannel audio.

The A85 will take a 6ch in and out board, and you can add 85p's to it for the other channels.

The DV88 has a DVD-A board to come, may have DD and dts on it also.

Go for it, should be great for audio!

    Marcel,

I purchased an A85 a few months back mainly for it's musical ability. However, I also use it for the HT front speakers DVD via a Yam E800 processor (which drives only the front and rears).

It sounds superb - crystal clear along with great imagery (in stereo) and fabulous bass. The A85 is incredibly dynamic and sounds much more powerful than it's 85W p/c would suggest and actually suits the HT role very well.

The A85 is the best purchase I have made in a long time. Go and audition one - you'll be amazed!

Thanks guys! As I already did like the DV88-player very much, I'm auditioning the A85 later this week(end). I hope it sounds good with the Monitor Audio's as well

    thanks again,
Marcel
