Advice on a new system please

All,

I am making my first jump into home cinemaville by budget is around the 5k mark. I am looking at getting the below: -

Panny TH42PWD6

Panny TY-42TM6AB BNC

Denon AVR - 3803

Denon DVD 2900

All of that is coming in at around £4,250 and I also need some speakers. Any recommendation on a cheapish 7 speaker set up and a sub ?

Could I please have your opinions on whether you think this is a good mix and if so where I should think of making changes.

Good choice though i would wait and go for the new Denon 3805 amp !

I think quite a few people use Kef egg speakers with Denon amps ?

Acoustic energys Evo series although not discrete in 7.1 would be less than £1000

Do you know when that is due to be released.

I think someone in the AV amp forum received an email from Denon stating they were due into the country the 26th of this month and would then be shipped out to dealers.

No doubt they will be in quite short supply early on though, So get your order in now ;)

Available to order from here and here :)

The new denon will take up another chunk of the poor lad's budget don't forget. The 3803 is a serious bargain at present, personally if restricted already to £750 for 7 speakers and a sub, I'd stick with it, or even ask myself if I really needed it, or whether the 2800 series would do the job.

"Poor lad" with five grand to spend :D

Anyway i think the £4250 quoted already is including about a grand for the amp ? The equipment quoted could be got for less if he shops around ?

All of that was from av-sales. I have looked around and have manged to get it down by about £400. What in your opinion is the best place to buy from.

a dealer where you get sat down in a room confronted by the equipment you're proposing and some alternatives with advice (that you want to check up on first) and a good idea of what your system will sound like!
Spending extra on a decent pre and post purchase service is a sound investment
There are some people who think the kef eggs sound crap because all this audio stuff is subjective and dependant on too many factors.
Would you rather pay more for the perfect system or pay less but get someone else's favourite system!!

I cant argue with your choice of using AV sales as this is where i got my series 6 Panny from, Excellent service.

Their Plasma prices are very good, Though there are better deals on AV amps and DVD players, I`ve seen the 2900 for £650 here and the new 3805 available for £850 if you look in the amps section of the forum.

Though as bobbypunk says getting a good demo of the equipment can be worth a lot more than a cheaper price !
