    Hi there,

I am just about to invest in a plasma tv and would like to hear your recommendations for a good surround sound speaker system that is 'understated' (trying to avoid 5 big black boxes on the wall) and ideally costs about £1000

The room is roughly 7m x 4m and has plasterboard walls and ceiling. I see a number of manufacturers now produce fairly discrete small cubes and I am aware of the 'in-wall' varieties but not sure how either types rate.

Finally, I don't currently have an amp. Would an 'active' subwoofer be just as good? Bye-the-way, the system will be used 50/50 for watching DVDs and listening to music.
