    Hi
I have had HC for last 2 years, I have used a basic sony amp and speakers and have npw decided to upgrade. I have just recieved and set up a Denon 2805 amp and Marantz speakers, not sure of model but I know they are same as Marantz hollywood pack speakers, designed by Mourdant Short.

Im unsure on setting the crossover to get best results. The sub has a crossover setting and the amp has crossover setting, im unsure of how to set these up together to get best results

Also any other tips ect would be handful

    Thanks in advance
    Goons

Not sure I understand, what crossover have you got on your amp?

Its got a crossover frequency for sending noise to Sub (i think) I have at the moment set this to 100 as speakers are rated 100 upwards, therefore my understanding is that all other noise will go to sub as base 100 and below, the Sub also has a crossover setting on it for same thing, as Im not sure how this will work with amp setting I have at the moment set the amp to 100 and the sub to max 150,

Is this right, I tried LOTR Fellowship ext version in 6.1 DTS, at the begginning I certainly get lots of base through sub during battle, and the ring drops with a nnice thump. But there does seem to be some rumbling is this right.

That's correct Gooner, set the sub to the highest crossover and just use the crossover on the amp.

The amp crossover is where the amp diverts sounds from the main speakers to the amp, the sub crossover will just stop it trying to play sounds above that frequency.

I have run the auto set up and let it input its own settings for now.
Sorry for newbie questions the step up to good gear comes with lots of terminology new to me

As Bob said, that is correct - set the sub to max and let your amp handle the crossover.

The Eq settings are just different modes for you to play around with, just have a look at your manual.
