I'm sure this has been posted numerous times before so apologies for adding to the growing list.

I'm planning on buying a 32" Widescreen before Christmas. I will be mainly using it to watch Sky digital, watching DVD's (lots with DTS) and playing the the old PS2. I have a JVC thv70r home cinema system too.

I'm thinking of the Panasonic TX32PD30 as suggested by my brother who works at Panasonic HQ in Bracknell. I have funds of around £900 but I'm not overly keen to spend that unless the TV is top notch. I would be happier spending between 600 and 800 so whats the ideal TV for my setup? I am also open to suggestions of a 28" widescreens tv also.

You may want to check out the threads on here on the PD30-does your brother not like you?! :)

I was going to buy the TX32PD30 until I read the forum thread about all the problems with the set. I agree the picture looked superb in the shop, but I was worried what would happen once I got it home.

Consequently I started looking around, and finally plumped for the Toshiba 32ZP48. Have a look at the following thread http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=165578 for recent views on this TV. It is currently available, (I think) for around £850, but go and have a look in your local TV superstore. Comet, Curry's and Dixon's all stock the set.

I've had my set for just over 2 months now, and am well pleased.

You have to put these comments in context.

I was in exactly the same position a few months ago, but my PD30 is excellent and there are plenty of Forum members who think likewise.

As has been said many times, there's no substitute for doing the legwork yourself and comparing sets in various shops.

Then, make sure you buy from a dealer with a reputation for good customer service, like John Lewis.

    Good luck.
