    Hi All,
I am buying next week sometime and have come up with
    this shortlist.....

    Hitachi 42PD5200 or 5300 Plasma

    Pioneer AX5i amp
    Pioneer 668avi DVD Player
    Pioneer Freeview Box

Which Plasma would you go for the one with the media box or without therefore losing the DVI input??

Is the DVI input on the 5200 hdmi compatible with a
    hdmi > dvi lead?

If not is the pioneer 434 worth the extra money???
    ie nearly £2000 more.

Also I cannot decide on the speakers

I am thinking of kef kht 2005.2 plus 2 extra eggs
are there any better small sat/sub systems that are better
and are easily wall mountable as the kefs are?

General view of the package I am putting together please?

Bear in mind that the room is 10ft x 10ft so I do not want huge speakers etc.

I could probably even go for the pioneer vsa ax3
but i like the vsa ax5i remote, and the fact that it is a bit more
    advanced with hdmi etc.

I am going mostly pioneer because I have always had pioneer
equipment and like the way it produces sound.
Some may find the treble a bit harsh or bright but I like the
    sound a pioneer amp makes.

I am not planning to change the system for a long time once it
    is in and running.

    Regards

    good choice but:
VSXAX3 should be adequate for what you need as the vsxax5i doesn't have HDMI either it has i-link which you would only get on the 868avi.
on the remote issue you'd probably be better to buy a remote like a pronto or marantz with the difference.
The speakers would be much better if you push up to the kht5005
But most important of all demo the kit first you'd be suprised how much worse things can sound to you than to someone else!!

    Hi,
well it is all there now apart from speakers

    I have gone for :

Hitachi 42PD5200 (will be delivered tomorrow)
Pioneer VSA AX5i (I know but I like the remote)
    Pioneer 668avs Multi-Region DVD Player
    Panasonic DMR85 Multi-Region DVD/HDD Recorder
all the above for £4288 including delivery and 3 year extended warranty
    for the Plasma from PRC.

As for the speakers .... still deciding ... need to be compact and powerful
and wall mountable from the box ie no ugly wall brackets....

I am still leaning towards the kef kht2005 but are the 5005 wall mountable?

    Regards

Just to say that the 5005's are wall mountable.

They come with the bracket which is pretty small and discrete.

I have two 5005's for my rears and they sound pretty damn good to me and look very sexy too.

As for the rest you've got it pretty much sorted but I would have gone for the Panny 42" plasma myself.

    Cheers, Lee

Has your plasma turned up yet, if so what are your initial thoughts?
