    Hi all,

Ive currently got a Pacific 1002w, and 24" widescreen tv (its only a small room).

Im comtemplating two options... been offered a secondhand Sony HT-SL5, or, I can take the dvd player back and get a Panasonic SC-HT500 for £219.

Also, in the for sale forum

1 - Sony STR-DE475 amp - 5.1 tuner amp with both DD and DTS capabilities - this is still boxed (the handle on the box is a little torn but overall still in good condition) with remote, aerials and manuals etc, all in excellent to mint condition

2 - Sony SA-VE225 speaker set - 4 sats plus center speaker and a powered sub. unfortunately no box but all cables, manuals etc are there. Again all in brilliant condition.

    For about £240.

    What would you recommend?

    THanks
    paul

I would say PANASONIC 500 or PANASONIC 310 (Hi-Fi speakers) for decent audio and good finish and looking (important in a living room).

well, I got the Panny from digital-point for £229 (multi-region). It looks great, but not tested yet (my son's xmas pressie).

It doesn't have pro logic II, I think the sony does, but it looks cooler than the sony (as do the speakers with their mini-stands)and I think (am not sure) sony's have only s-video out, which would put me off. Also, on this forum, some have complained about fan noise on the sony.
