First off, Hi from a noob
This has been a great site to read in my search for a new tv

I have a few questions before the plastic comes out.

I am about to order :
PANASONIC TH37PE50 PLASMA TV + PEDESTAL STAND
    PANASONIC SCHT1500 DVD KIT

The Dvd recorder states multi-format, will this also be multi-region ?
Are Totaldigital a good company to order from ?
Does anybody know of another retailer with better prices ?
To get the best from the tv and home cinema, what cables will I need ? (I will be hooking up my NTL box too).

    Fredy

    Hiya Fredy,

Yep, both deals are soooo cheap.
Their neighbours on the Soho Rd are charging £200 more on the TV.

However, take a look at the Sony DAVSB500 (Multi-region version) unless you're dead set on Panasonic. http://www.digital-point.co.uk

You will see which picture you prefer, component being the best quality that TV can display.
Although for regular cableTV, most ppl prefer RGBScart or Svideo.

I think that's because most cable / satellite / freeview boxes only output composite or RGB Scart (or SVideo).

Component is usually only found in things like DVD players

    Could be wrong, though.

As for fredy's original questions, I've never heard of this company before, but I'm hoping they're OK because I may be about to get a 42in PE50 from them...

    Leads-wise, you will probably want:
1x scart NTL -> DVD recorder
1x scart NTL -> screen (not 100% sure about this, though)
1x set of RCA component leads DVD -> screen.

Monster & Ixos seem to be well respected makers of Scart leads, although there is some debate as to how much it makes sense to pay for them. Buying something in the £20-for-2m bracket won't waste too much money if it is snake oil but won't give you poor results if there is something in it.

Mark Grant makes component leads which are as good as anyones, for the money, and are available in a power buy in this web site. Head to the cables & cabling section for more info (and the power buys sub-forum for Mark's cables)

    Thanks for the input guys.

Took a look at the Sony DAVSB500, I like the idea of wireless rear speakers but the system has no recorder. I am looking to do away with my video recorder and the panny system has a HD inside.

Thanks for the heads up on the leads, will go take a look now.

Just phoned them up, Its not multi-region...hmmm

After a little search, Digital-Point are selling the same model at around the same price but it is Multi-Region.

Will go for that one I think.
