    hello people

im buying a plasma saturday, and have narrowed it down to two.
it needs to be wall mounted and used everyday as a tv.

    Hitachi 42PD3000 2199.99 from richersounds
    or
    LG RZ42PZ11 1999.99 from currys/dixons

i have a good home cinema set up already. ive looked into the hitachi and it looks like a good deal. the LG surprised me on a trip to currys as seemed good quality pictures/connections etc, but cant find any reviews on it?

    any advice would be appreciated

    thanks

    dave

If it a pannel your after you can't go far wrong with a Panasonic PW6/7 as many will tell you here and cheaper than those mentioned.

I'll second that. AV-sales will sell you a PW6 (or silver PW7) for the same money (or less!) as you're looking at spending, and panasonic are probably the panel of choice on these forums (for SD viewing)

The Panny is cheaper than the prices quoted, but those prices are OTT!!!

The only review of the LG so far is in Digital Home Magazine - the one with "UK'S TOP 10 Plasma TVs" on the front cover. Note that you can get the LG for under £1500 if you have a quick look round the net, or from a major retailer, try Comet's website where it is £1599.

AFAIK, the 42PD3000 is an old model... current model is 42PD5300, and can be sourced for around £2100 - £2200. It's ALiS technology though, which is a bit of cheat, and doesn't go down well with everyone. You really need to view it first.

Otherwise, as they say there are the Pannys. Although, do you need a TV tuner? That isn't clear from what you've posted. If you don't, then the PW6/7 panels will be fine - otherwise you would need to step up to the Viera, which is quite a bit more expensive than the other options - especially if you are wall mounting, and so the free cabinet offer isn't so attractive.
