Hi all, currently I have a Panasonic TX-P42G10B. Happy with the picture quality but am looking at something similar for another room in the house.

Is OLED the way go? The other room gets a lot of natural daylight coming so tends to be brighter than the room the panasonic plasma is in. Could a system of similar or much better standards be picked up for around £500?

I would forget OLED you would need a few thousand pounds to purchase them and they start at 55 inch, it might be a bit out of your budget.

It would be helpful to be a lot more specific about your needs (and viewing habits/preferences). For now your target has been a £500 OLED, a 55" Full HD and a 48" 4K model :D ...

Yea....having had the day to think about it the 55" is probably just too big for the viewing area. We currently have a 42" in the space the new one will go into we sit about 10ft away for watching movies on either blu ray or sky movies which I love to do, but when I'm playing the playstation I sit about 5ft away. 50" would probably be the max it could handle.

The last TV i bought was in 2009 so having a 4k set appeals to me as I may not use it now but I love my football and the idea of not having to change the TV in 2/3 years time to access it appeals to me.

Budget wise it's really £500-700 so that 48" Samsung 4k set is very appealing to me right now, but maybe I'm being naive thinking the 4K is a good idea?
