    Hi,

I presently have a set of B&W P4s for fronts and 302's for rears and was always using a CC6 (original) as my centre.

However the CC6 is now no more thanks to an accident when moving, and hence looking for a replacement.

Question is should I go for the new LC600s from B&W or should I try and find a second hand CC6. Money is not overly a problem, thinking more about whether the new range will match with the older models.

Also I bought my setup early when there were so much dedicated surround speakers, in looking at the market for Centre's I see other people saying that specialist Rears are better. Does anyone have any thoughts on how much of a difference I would see in changing my rear 302's to specialist rears??

    Any advice/thoughts appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Dave.

    Hi

The only thing I can suggest would be to try the newer speaker if possible. As its from the same manufacturer the overall tone should be similar.

When you say "specialist" speaker for rears are you referring to Dipole/Bipole/Tripole speakers?? These speakers give a more dispersed sound than normal monopole speakers and some people prefer this, whereas others prefer a more localizable sound. Only thing is, I don´t think B&W make dipoles anymore, they did have the DS6 (think that was the model??!!) but that was made for the old Pro-Logic days and had a fairly limited frequency response. It might be possible to track down a pair though.

    Cheers

The only dedictaed rears that B&W make now are mono-pole designs. The various di-polar designs have gone now.

If you are thinking of changing your rears I would suggest the CDM SNT's, low profile surrounds, very good sound. I forget the retail price but I think it's around the £6-700 mark.

Also for the centre I can recommend the CDM CNT. Pretty large, but it will match your P4's better than the old CC6. I is also around the £500 area I think.
