    Hello All,

I am very new to home cinema and very close to clueless.

I have a Sony Bravia tv and a virgin plus box.

I would like a Bluray player and a decent sound setup that can play mp3's wirelessly through my laptop; not just for the tv. Thats pretty much it not sure whether to get PS3 for the bluray or would it be better to get something else? Wouldnt mind having a games console if its just as good as any other player.

Ive got a budget of around £800 to £1,000 for everything (already have the laptop)

    I welcome your advice everybody!!!

    Thanks

    DonnyD

If its a combined bluray player and wireless streamer you're after, only the PS3 ticks that box AFAIK. The PS3 is a cracking machine and will continue to improve thanks to regular updates from Sony. Otherwise you're looking at a stand-alone bluray player plus a wireless streaming device such as Squeezebox Classic (£129 from cooltopia). Then add a budget amp that can handle LPCM audio over HDMI, such as Sony 820/2400ES, Pioneer 918, Onkyo 576/606, Yamaha 763, Denon 1909 and so on and a set of speakers as suggested above or something like Q-Acoustics setup.
