Question Advice needed on best 50-55" TV under £550 or 800EUR

Hi there,

I've had my Sony Bravia KDL-40W4500 for around 7 years now. Fantastic purchase and was transported all the way to Berlin where I'm living now. But alas, it's time to upgrade post-Christmas sales pending.

I don't think I'll be using 4K content any time soon so I think it makes more sense to get a good quality 1080p model than an entry-level 4K screen. Panel/picture quality and features are the important selection criteria. Sound won't be an issue, I have a separate Bose 1-2-3 system - dated, but does the job.

Distance: I'm sitting in between 10-15ft away from the TV at any given time, my room is pretty big with high-ceilings so the 40" Bravia looks pretty small in there.

What I will use the TV for:
- Kodi via Raspberry Pi 2/NAS (Full HD content)
- Netflix
- Other streaming...
- I don't watch terrestrial, but it'd be good to have a Freeview HD as an option

Questions:

- I was thinking to wait until the Sony Bravia KDL-50W805C comes down in price.
- Is there big panel/picture quality differences between 50-55"?
- Are there any good deals currently?

Thanks in advance for your assistance. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
