I am trying to play 720p x264 video files on my computer, and they are always very choppy. Right now, I'm connected to my HDTV with a VGA cable. Here are my system requirements, and I'm hoping that someone can give me some advice on what I might need to upgrade to get smooth playback.

    -2.66GHz Processor
    -768MB RAM (400MHz)
    -Intel 82865G 128MB Video Card

I was thinking of upgrading my RAM, but now I'm thinking that getting a new video card might be better. I'm looking to spend no more than $200.

    Any advice is appreciated!

can you be more specific on the processor (as in what it is not just clock speed) - pentium, amd, dual etc

x264 in my experience needs not only a good gpu but also a fast enough cpu to handle it
