Just got a new job so want to splash out on a home cinema system.

I want to spend around £800 including amp, speakers etc.

My room is a medium sized bedroom but I will be moving out to a bigger place at the end of the year, so size isn't really an issue.

I am wanting this for good surround sound watching movies, gaming etc, but also want to be able to hook it up to my PC and play good quality music from it.

I have a HDTV, PS3 and PC that I want to hook it up to.

Thank you for your time and responses. :D

For your budget I would look at the Q Accoustics 2000 speaker set (£500) and then a Yamaha 565 or 765 reciever.
This will give you a great movie sound and be reasonable with music too.

I'm guessing that there isn't any other replies that this advice is good advice. Would you suggest any other receiver if I could afford bit more money towards it?

Thanks again.

That combo is a pretty solid choice.

Upgrades. Move to RX-V0165.

There is a load of choice out there, Yamaha/Denon have quite a following here due to good music performance.

If you can accomodate floorstanders, you could get a better speaker sound with the previous version of the QA speakers, the 1000i series.

I would go with at least the Yamaha 765 amp at £350

you could get the 1030i floorstanders for £140

Q ACOUSTICS 1030i SPEAKERS (PAIR) - available from Superfi UK Visit http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/product_id/3866 for details

centre speaker for £80

Q ACOUSTICS 1000Ci CENTRE SPEAKER (CHERRY) - available from Superfi UK Visit http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/product_id/3695 for details

and the centre for £80

Q ACOUSTICS 1010i SPEAKERS (PAIR) - available from Superfi UK Visit http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/product_id/3693 for details

you could get the QA sub for £150

Q ACOUSTICS 1000Si SUBWOOFER (BEECH) - available from Superfi UK Visit http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/product_id/3694 for details

or you could get a different sub. The BK gemini is a highly recommended sub at £200 and would be better than the QA one

Gemini

in my view, you would get better sound from the above than the new QA 2000 5.1 package.

If you can move up to the Yamaha 1065, it would be good, but I think if you are limited in budget, the 765 will be fine and you'd be better spending available budget on speakers.
