Advice for buying AV (newbie)

    I've got a widescreen TV with surround and an old HiFi and looking for equipment with good quality music and video, with budget of around Euro 1000,=. Pls advise.

    You based in the UK or Euroland? 1000 Euros won't go very far if you're looking for quality sound and vision.

    Initial recommendations would be:
    Mordaunt Short premiere speaker package: £299
    Marantz 4300 receiver £199 from Richer Sounds
    Which leaves you with around £100 - £150 for a DVD player of which there are plenty around to choose from.

    Another idea would be a DVD plyer, AMp and a pair of good stereo speakers adding the rest later depends on your specs and what you already own.
