If I see or hear that [rule breaking language removed by admin] Fiat advert one more time I'm going to have to smash something up - probably a Fiat

Mazda - crappiest voice over of all time? "A car with spirit..."

Malta advert - cheapest advert of all time?

And finally, what the %^&*are "natural free liposomes" or "retinol A nanosomes"?

    thats better

The latest VW advert for the Passat where it shows a man apologising for only buying the car for £17K and offering the keys back. I find it very insulting to the intelligence, you have to see it to understand what I mean, and since when is a Passat cheap at £17K

VW should apologise to me, I bought one of their ******* heaps of junk, crap handling, crap brakes, wibbly wobbly suspension and a asthmatic 2 litre 8 valve engine

It was the toys that made me do it

I like the Fray Bentos "we make all the pies" advert, I know its not cars, but they do come in a tin (no puns please).

The one that bugs me is the vodafone ad where they are playing strip-poker and the girl takes all her clothes off and glances questioningly at the bed, but the guy wants to carry on playing. Makes me wanna cry!! :D

I know the feeling Lex. That poor girl must have been freezing waiting for him to get her night dress

What about that Carling Black Label Advert where that silly man with the big tongue cleans the house and it ends up with his lady friend sat on the bed waiting for him to clean her teeny brassiere as well. What about the rest of her clothes? You'd think she'd have poured the beer on them first wouldn't you? These modern girls have no idea how expensive washing powder is

Am I the only one who is shocked that they can get away with these "Think" ads. You know, the ones where the kid gets run down and the woman gets smashed in the back of the head by her son in the backseat.

Now I'm not offended per se, but it seems like a terrible double standard. Someone trying to sell a product would never be allowed to go that far. Public Service Announcements seem to be given way too much leeway compared to regular adverts.

my pet hate - any car advert that shows the person in his/her new car, driving along an open/empty road - how far from the truth is this for 99% of us!!??.

Oh, and the off-road vehicle too - driving up mountain roads, pulling stricken vehicles out of trouble, and general crap like that.

Especially when most off-road vehicles only get used for the school run and popping out to Harvey Nicks.

    Azrikam,

I think you'd agree that public safety campaigns are not the same thing as ads trying to flog toilet rolls, corporate images etc. I dont see any inconsistency in PSA's being allowed to show the graphic consequences (e.g. drink drive etc).

On second thoughts, maybe advertisers should be forced to show the true consequences of their products - e.g. fat orange kids (Sunny Delight)

Are there actually ANY natural ingredients in Sunny Delight? I understand that it's so full of additives that you don't actually have to store it in the fridge. Makes me feel quite sick :(

Another one that is really stupid is the 'Schmirnoff Black Ice' ad with the bloke on the plane in first class - stewerdess asks if 'this is his seat?' and he says something like "no I have an economy ticket, but thought I would sit here"

And then she apologises and walks off... huh? What? not at all realistic - in reality she would tell him to wipe that stupid smirk off your face and get the **** off my plane!!!

It must be something to do with car advertisments - marketing people are you listening ?

The new Ford Fiesta advert where the bloke draws spots on his face and gets sent home. Why does the woman say that she had better go with him ?

    Why ???

There is nothing wrong with you woman - except for lazyitis - get your boney ass back behind that desk and finish of the filing, typing and invoicing like the company is paying you for. If you want to go fly a kite then wait 'til knocking off time when you can do whatever you want - but while you are in work get some work done - or you can get your spotty faced mate to drive you to the job centre...

    ...ok rant over...

    Cheers

In the history of adverts, car ads have to be the worst across the board. They have a ton of money to spend, and all we end up with is the same ads all the time with a different car.

Or, when they try to get creative, we get stuff like that one where the guy travels through time in his car. (can't remember the brand... as usual) He starts out in the 50s or something, and as he drives around in his car he ends up in the future. I saw this ad 5 times before I realized what was going on. A friend of mine still didn't get it.
