Advantage and Disadvantages of consolidating with Sky?

Afternoon boys and girls,

I have a question regarding the package that Sky offer where you can have phone, internet and Sky altogether.

I currently have my phone with BT, Internet broadband with Demon and Sky + (obviously, with Sky).

Apart from the price being cheaper, what are the advantages and disadvantages of changing what I currently have and getting all three from Sky?

Would I still have to pay the crazy £35/quarter line rental with BT or would the Sky package cover that? I dont really make landline calls, but need the line for the internet.

Anybody else on the package? I think its called 'Speak, See, Surf', or something along those lines.

Oh yeh, and if it helps, I currently have all the channels with Sky, other than the extra subscription ones like the naughty channels and Setanta.

Many thanks,

Edward

i have been on it since last year.

obviously you can see what your spending on each section on the same website.
tv(HD) - bb - line rental- calls

all your calls to sky are free (which helps as your always on there for ages)

On broadband alone the Demon 8mB Home Package is £17.99/month.
The Sky 16mB offering (provided your exchange is LLU - check Samknows Broadband - Broadband Availability Checker) with virtually unlimited downloads and no restrictions is only £10/month - so there's a decent saving to begin with.

SkyTalk + line rental is £10/month - so there's another saving plus, (as mentioned) free calls to Sky CS

The advice given on most ADSL forums is that if can get Sky Broadband Max - go for it. And they were voted the No.1 phone/internet bundle in a recent survey

Make sure you're aware of the implications of going with an Unbundled ("LLU") service. Not sure if the situation has changed in recent times, but there may be additional costs involved in switching away from Sky for broadband at a latter date, and it may involve having to terminate the service before you can switch (ie no seamless migration).

How much in total do you pay then Boon, and how did you go about getting it set up?

Did you do it online or via the telephone?

Thanks for the info, its a great help.

...How much in total do you pay then...

Sky World + Line Rental + Talk unlimited + broadband - it's all on the Sky website.

I think it a bit unfair to ask prices from individuals since some have been able to "negotiate" different pricing.

If you set it up online there is no room for negotiation..........

Sorry Neil, I didnt mean to come across as rude. I was just wondering what the sort of ball park figure is.

I will have to have a look on their website as suggested.

Cheers,

Edward

currently would pay £5 BB + £10 SKY Talk + £10 HD + £47 SKY World(i have a deal so i dont pay this at the mo) obviously theres the calls on top depending on what you use.

but when it was seperate companies it was more for the BB & phone (BT is £11.75 i think)
